Michele Garber is a Senior Scientist at HC3 specializing in human health risk assessments and litigation support activities. She reviews and evaluates risk assessments, deposition testimony of other experts, medical records, site sampling and measurement data, and other information used to support expert witness testimony.
Michele received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Florida State University and her Masters in Public Health from the University of South Florida. She completed additional graduate coursework in Environmental Toxicology and performed laboratory research exploring the effects of lead acetate on C6 glial cells in vitro at Florida A&M University.
She interned with the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) where she assessed Superfund sites and worked with the Childhood Lead Poisoning Surveillance and Prevention Program. From 2002 to 2005, she worked at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) crime laboratory, screening blood and urine samples for controlled substances using immunoassay instruments and analyzed suspected drug evidence for controlled substances using Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS).
She has provided expert witness testimony on drug identification more than 20 times in state court. Prior to joining HC3, Mrs. Garber worked at Hazardous Substance & Waste Management Research (HSWMR) for nearly 19 years where she prepared toxicology evaluations of various organic and inorganic compounds, prepared site-specific risk assessments on human exposures to contaminated groundwater, soil, sediment, surface water, and air.
Michele uses her extensive experience in laboratory analysis, reviewing sample data, and understanding of its relevance to human health risk.
